A of the most emblematic houses of Barranco district will shine by becoming, from 22 September to 01 November, at the headquarters of the XIV Peruvian Exhibition Decoration and Design Casa Cor Peru 2009. This is the home Rosell-Ríos, built between 1909 and 1912, on Avenida Grau 428 - Barranco. Hours: Tuesday to Sunday.
This house is declared a historical monument and within it currently performing maintenance and conservation of the forthcoming exhibition. It was built when Barranco beginning to emerge as a summer resort of the wealthy families of Lima.
ordered built by Juan Esteban Rios architect H. French Rotouin, who possibly had the support of engineers and Francisco Behr Hugo Alva, Rosell-Ríos house belongs to the type of domestic architecture - housing, in Barranco takes the name of "ranch."
The house evolves the architecture of the "European villages" as the Italians, also performed a fusion of pre-Hispanic and European styles, which is mixed with the foreign real thing.
The house has one of the best cases of eclecticism that has Barranco, featuring Victorian architecture and decorative items, art-nouveau, neo rococo and neo classical. It also has pre-Columbian ornaments such as seas, fish, the Incas, the sun and moon.
The materials used for construction are common to buildings of that time as adobe, thatch, wood, mud brick and some parts of which have been fighting off several earthquakes over the years, such as 1974, where several houses have deteriorated.
